Britney Spears album suffers worst US chart performance of career

Britney Spears' new album has seen the singer achieve her worst first-week sales in the US ever.

The pop princess recently unleashed her eighth studio record 'Britney Jean' but Billboard have confirmed that it only shifted 107,000 units this week.

This means that it is now her worst performing album in States in terms of initial sales, with her 1999 debut '...Baby One More Time' selling 121,000 copies in its first week.

Her last album, 2011's 'Femme Fatale', managed to shift 276,000 copies.

'Britney Jean' landed at No.4 on the Billboard 200 as a result of her sales, with Garth Brooks' Blame It All On My Roots' shooting straight to No.1.

In the UK meanwhile, Spears saw her new album land at a hugely disappointing No.34.
