Bruno Mars closes Rock in Rio USA festival

Bruno Mars played the final headlining set of the inaugural Rock in Rio USA festival last night (May 16).

The two part event – split into separate “rock” and “pop” weekend line ups – was held in Las Vegas over the past fortnight and marks the first time the Rock in Rio brand has extended beyond it’s sites in Rio de Janeiro, Lisbon and Madrid.

The rock weekend was headlined by Metallica and No Doubt, whilst Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars were the top acts for the pop billing.

‘Uptown Funk’ star Bruno Mars was the chosen name to close the Vegas event yesterday (May 16) with a hit packed set.

Mars kicked off his show with a drum solo before kicking into ‘Locked Out Of Heaven’ and then a further two tracks from his ‘Unorthodox Jukebox’ album, ‘Natalie’ and ‘Treasure’.

Other set highlights included Mars and his band covering Ginuwine’s ‘Pony’ and a smooth song trio of ‘When I Was Your Man’, ‘Grenade’ and ‘Just The Way You Are’.

Bruno finished with an encore of ‘Uptown Funk’ and ‘Gorilla’.

Following his set – which was streamed live on Yahoo Live – the Hawaiian star simply tweeted: “That was fun!!!”
