Bruno Mars confirmed to play Super Bowl 2014

Bruno Mars has been announced as next year's Super Bowl half-time performer.

The US star was confirmed yesterday (September 8) to play the massive event on February 2.

He said on Twitter: "AWWWWWWWW SHHHHHIIIIIEEEEEETTTTT #PepsiSBHalftime. WE'RE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL!!!!!!! #PepsiSBHalftime."

Mars concluded: "#Hooligans we did it!"

The 'Locked Out of Heaven' man follows on from Beyoncé, who stole the show last year with a cameo alongside her Destiny's Child bandmates.

Other names to have played the American football event in the past includes Michael Jackson, Madonna and Sir Paul McCartney.
