Calvin Harris claims first No. 1 album of the year

Calvin Harris' '18 Months' is the first official No. 1 album of 2013 after the record climbed back into the top spot today (January 6).

The Scottish hitmaker's star-studded offering has climbed six places back to poll position after debuting at the top spot when it was first released back in October last year.

Harris took to Twitter today after his No. 1 was announced:

"18 Months back at number 1! :O RT @officialcharts Congratulations to @CalvinHarris - #18Months is the first Official #Number1 Album of 2013 (sic)."

Harris' return to No. 1 has knocked Emeli Sandé's hugely successful 'Our Version Of Events' off the top spot and into No. 2 position after an impressive 47 weeks in the charts.

Ed Sheeran's '+' is up ten places to No. 3 after 69 weeks in the chart, while Jake Bugg's self-titles album is up 12 places to No. 4.

Rita Ora's 'Ora' is up two places to No. 6 while Rihanna's 'Unapologetic' is down four places to No. 7.

One Direction's 'Take Me Home' is down two places to No. 8 while Olly Murs' 'Right Place Right Time' has dropped seven places to No.9.
