Cheryl Cole has revealed that she wanted her recent wedding to be kept a secret.

The singer shocked fans earlier this month by tying the knot with boyfriend Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini in Mustique.

They had reportedly only been seeing each other for a matter of months and the move took fans by surprise.

However, Cole told BBC Radio 1 that she only revealed the news on Twitter because it was leaked to the public.

The singer said: "I would have actually kept it that way but unfortunately it was leaked. But I'm glad it's out there."

The marriage is Cheryl's second following her stint with Ashley Cole in the 2000s, which ended in divorce in 2010.
