Cheryl's husband Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini has been awarded "substantial" damages over an article about his private life in Reveal.

The magazine previously published the three-page piece 'The 'shy and quiet' past of Cheryl's new husband' following the duo's marriage earlier this year.

However, Fernandez-Versini took offence to the article because he has no desire to be a public figure, regardless of his wife's fame.

The piece examined his history in France and looked at his family connections.

Publisher National Magazine Company admitted that the article invaded his privacy and have issued an apology alongside damages.

Cheryl and Fernandez-Versini married in a surprise wedding in July.
