Cheryl on course for record-breaking No.1 UK single

Cheryl looks set to enter the UK singles chart history books this weekend.

The Official Charts Company confirmed in their midweek update today (November 5) that the Brit's new effort 'I Don't Care' is currently No.1.

It has sold over 49,000 units so far this week and if she maintains her place at No.1, Cheryl will have notched up five chart-topping singles.

This would make her the British female with the most No.1 singles in the country, usurping Geri Halliwell and Rita Ora.

At No.2 on the midweek update meanwhile is Ed Sheeran's previous No.1 'Thinking Out Loud', with Meghan Trainor's 'All About That Bass' at No.3.

Rounding off the top five this week is John Legend's 'All Of Me' and Taylor Swift's 'Shake It Off'.

There is a new entry for Calvin Harris at No.14 with 'Outside', whilst Nicki Minaj's 'Only' is No.26.
