Cheryl reprimands Nick Grimshaw for getting her name wrong during London auditions

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini had to have words with her fellow X Factor judge Nick Grimshaw after the Radio 1 DJ referred to her by her old name.

During a London audition taping earlier this week, Grimshaw went to ask Cheryl for her opinion on a contestant’s performance and called her “Cheryl Cole”.

The ‘I Don’t Care’ singer’s maiden name is Tweedy but became Cheryl Cole after marrying footballer Ashley Cole in 2006 and continued to use her married name after the couple’s 2010 divorce.

After getting re-married in 2014, Cheryl’s new last name is Fernandez-Versini.

Following Grimshaw’s mistake, the former Girls Aloud star corrected him: “It’s Cheryl or Chezza.”

Rita Ora – another new addition to the X Factor judging panel – commented: “I’m backing away.” Whilst Simon Cowell said: “Awkward, awkward!”

Earlier this week, Cheryl also hit back at people criticising her appearance and weight. She stated: “I am so sick and tired of it being ok to call somebody too thin or a ‘bag of bones’. I would never dream of calling somebody too fat.”
