Cheryl says she won't use this year's X Factor as a promotional tool for a new album.

The singer will rejoin the panel of the ITV show as its latest series kicks off this weekend.

However, the Brit said that while she has been in the studio, a new record won't be forthcoming this year.

Cheryl said: "You won't be seeing me perform [on the X Factor] this year.

"I'm focused on my charity, I have got a trust at the moment that's taking a lot of work and obviously this show is a massive job in itself.

"I'm just having fun in the studio doing bits and pieces for maybe next year, but not this year, I'm totally focused on the show and on the charity."

Cheryl's last album 'Only Human' was released in 2014.

This year's X Factor meanwhile will launch on ITV on Saturday (August 29).
