Cheryl gives out treats in Newcastle to launch charity Greggs chocolate

Cheryl surprised onlookers in Newcastle today (September 8) by giving out her new charity chocolate to the public.

The singer has teamed up with Greggs to create a limited edition Belgian Chocolate Crunch Bar.

Money from sales of the treat will go to Cheryl’s Trust, which helps disadvantaged young people in the north of England.

Cheryl was on hand to give out some of the chocolate at a Greggs in her hometown Newcastle and she told local paper the Chronicle that the sugary sweet went down a treat.

She said: "It’s actually been really fun. Just chatting to people going into Greggs to get their breakfast before doing their long day’s work, it’s been lovely, and just to be home.

"I was handing out chocolates to people who were trying to tell us they were on a diet and five seconds later they were eating my chocolate bar. They are really enjoying it which is great.

"Initially I wanted to approach Greggs for a few reasons. I was born in the North East, that’s all we ate a lot of the time, pasties.

"Initially I wanted to do something sweet, more like a doughnut or muffin, but after going backwards and forwards we settled on this Belgian Chocolate Crunch because everyone loves a bit of chocolate and Belgian chocolate is delicious.

"I love Rocky Road and it’s my take on a Rocky Road. I went to one guy and asked if he would like to try one and he told me he had already had two, which I was really pleased about."
