Louis Walsh on Cheryl: 'Cheryl needs a rest. She's lost a bit of energy'

Former X Factor judge, Louis Walsh, told The Daily Star that current judge, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, should take a break from the show.

The former Westlife manager said:

"Cheryl needs a rest. She's lost a bit of energy, she should go away, make a record and maybe record another hit."

The 33-year-old's last album, 'Only Human' gave her two UK No.1 hits, 'I Don't Care' and 'Crazy Stupid Love' feat. Tinie Tempah.

Walsh managed Cheryl's old group, Girls Aloud, until the band left him.

Walsh was dropped from the judging panel by Simon Cowell. However, he claims that Cowell asked him to return half way through the last series, he said:

"Simon has already said he wished he hadn't let me go. He wanted to bring me back in the middle of the last series, but I thought it would be odd with five judges."

The Irishman said that he would only ever return if Cowell recruited the 'right people'.

He said: "X Factor went off the boil last year - Simon tweaked it too much. He needs to bring back the old X Factor; have the auditions in a small room."
