Cheryl Cole has proved to be a cut above the rest after she topped a poll to find Britain's favourite hair icon of 2011.

Hair loss company Medigro asked 5,000 women across the UK for their view on who has the best hair around.

Cole beat off competition from the likes of Rihanna, Beyoncé and Kate Middleton, reports the Daily Mail.

Last month images were unveiled of a racy photoshoot Cole undertook with renowned photographer Rankin, with the Girls Aloud singer sporting tousled hair and raunchy make up.
