MAC MILLER

Released July 23rd

“Out of the ordinary, lyrically and sonically” – NME

“…young hip-hop fans already adore him” – The Times

“...it’s only a matter of time before this young contender starts to really rival some of hip hop’s heavy players” – Clash

Fresh from his sold out UK tour, including a London show at The Forum last month, Mac Miller releases his new anthemic single ‘Party On Fifth Ave’ on July 23rd, the second release from his debut album ‘Blue Slide Park’. Mac, one of the most exciting young emcee’s of the moment continues to give a nod to old skool hip hop. With over 11 million views on YouTube, ‘Party On Fifth Ave’ samples DJ Kool’s classic ‘Let Me Clear My Throat’, or depending on your generation, DJ Mark the 45 King’s ‘The 900 Number’.

Only six months into the year and Mac Miller has already worked with a slew of massive names. Earlier this year he dropped ‘Macadelic’, the seventh mixtape of his career, which features cuts from the likes of Kendrick Lamar and Lil’ Wayne. He also delivered an outstanding verse on the remix of Justin Bieber’s new single ‘Boyfriend’. Not to forget his forthcoming EP, ‘Pink Slime’, a collaboration with Neptunes legend Pharrell Williams.

Still only 20 years old, in his early teens Miller began to take his influences from the likes of A Tribe Called Quest, Big L, and Outkast, which helped him develop a reputation for delivering jaw-dropping freestyles in his native Pittsburgh.

Keeping true to his backpacker style, Mac Miller was signed independently to Rostrum Records, also home to Wiz Khalifa, in 2011, ‘Blue Slide Park’ became the first independently distributed debut album to top the US charts in 15 years.

Like most of his contemporaries, he first came to prominence by dropping a host of mixtapes. It was with ‘K.I.D.S’ and ‘Best Day Ever’, released 2010 and 2011 respectively, that Mac really rose from local sensation to online phenomenon, with each of his music videos clocking views by the millions on YouTube (over 320 million plays on his channel), and his hustle earning the respect of the industry.

GRACIOUS K FEAT. LEVELLE LONDON

Released 22nd July

British rapper Gracious K is back with yet another club smash hit for the summer. The new single, ‘Best Part of Me’, is an uptempo blend of R&B and hip-hop and features up-and-coming singer Levelle London.

Produced by Slic and written by Gracious K, Levelle London and UK singer-songwriter Anouck, ‘Best Part of Me’ is a far cry from dance floor hit ‘Migraine Skank’ – the song that propelled him into the mainstream consciousness – but it shows that Gracious K can still stay true to hip-hop’s rhythmic sensibilities.

The British rapper explains the meaning of the song: “‘Best Part of Me’ is about me, the story protagonist. I’m looking for love but it feels like there are not any suitable females out there for me. I stumble across a girl that catches my eye and throughout the song, you hear me trying to pick her mind to see if she could be the one for me.”

Gracious K has been busy working on his forthcoming album with a number of top class producers. His busy schedule also includes live performances across the UK, Europe and international venues.

‘Best Part of Me’ is scheduled for release on 22nd July 2012

AYO BEATZ

Released 23rd July

With a head nod from The Outhere Brothers, triple-threat artist Ayo Beatz is set to release his debut commercial single ‘Boom Ayo’.

Produced by Ayo Beatz himself, ‘Boom Ayo’ is an up-tempo, electro-break beat filled interpolation of the 90’s hit ‘Boom Boom Boom’ by The Outhere Brothers, brought up-to-date by Ayo Beatz’s signature synth sounds and honest realism in his lyrics.

Although giving respect to the aesthetic of the original, Ayo Beatz not only stamps his identity on his version, but also successfully balances an underground and club aesthetic, with elements from the mainstream. And with an exciting array of remixes from the Buzz Junkies, the dubstep beats of CASSETTi and The Mike Delinquent Project to the electro house sounds of Joe Garston, ‘Boom Ayo’ is set up to be a guaranteed club and chart hit.

The soft release of ‘Far Away’ allowed 2011 to be a big year for the self-taught musician, which featured DJ Ironik and Joelle Moses (The Voice-BBC) and the accompanying remix featuring Wretch 32, Ironik, Baby Blue, Bigz and Shay generated a massive buzz around AYO Beatz and received 243,000 views on YouTube with no formal promotion. Also, not forgetting the 2011 club hit ‘You Owe Me’ featuring Labrinth, who he attended Music College with and is a friend.

Definitely charismatic and exceptionally gifted, the multi-talented producer, rapper and songwriter who hails from Hackney, London, is fast becoming a much sought-after producer by UK and international acts.

The 25-year-old is currently working on his debut album that is set to be released later this year, and will be on the tip of everyone’s tongues in 2012 and beyond.

Boom Ayo will be released 23rd July 2012, on Mission Recordings Limited, bought to you by absolute via Universal.

CLEO SOL

Released 23rd July 2012

The UK has never been more ready for Cleo Sol and it's certainly been a long time since we were proud to champion a real UK pop soul diva that deserved the props. Set to launch her attack on the UK airwaves, Cleo releases her single 'Never the Right Time' on 23rd July through Island Records.

After years of singing for family and friends ‘Cleo Sol’ was born (the Sol paying homage to her sunny Spanish heritage) a moniker she created at aged 16. She then posted a few tracks on MySpace and was spotted by veteran underground producer Davinche (Kano’s P’s & Q’s). This relationship proved to be instrumental in putting her in the frame with some of the most impressive names on the UK Urban scene including Tinie Tempah (she featured on ‘Tears’), Wretch 32’s ‘Dancefloor’, Bashy's ‘Riding for Love’ and of course Davinche’s ‘Hero’. In 2010, Cleo also featured on ‘Give a Little Love’ with Roll Deep and Wretch 32.

'Never The Right Time' is Cleo Sol's statement of intent; reminiscent old skool 70s soul meets Crazy In Love confidence, making a first impression with more soul than your mum's Sunday cooking.

Cleo was raised in Ladbroke Grove by musical parents and has settled on a sound that reflects her unique heritage (her mother is half Serbian, half Spanish and her father is Jamaican). She's that girl from school who always dared to be different, with a retro style that says New York block party with a touch of St Martin's college reunion. “If all else fails, it’s all about the big hair and big earrings” she says.

For all those girls singing their hearts out in front of the mirror, you might just have a new diva to deliver that song to.

BASSHUNTER

(Released 6th August)

Basshunter is the ultimate bass creator and the world’s most in-demand commercial dance artist. He is involved in every aspect of his music from writing, producing and singing. With all tracks produced and written by Basshunter himself, it’s no wonder that he’s become one of the worlds most talked about and exciting dance stars. He has more than 2.2 million friends on Facebook, 35k Twitter followers (new account) and his YouTube figures on his video views are way over 700 Million worldwide!!

After signing a record deal with Warner Music in 2006, his first single ‘Boten Anna’ was an instant hit, securing the No.1 slot in eight European countries and making him the fastest selling artist in Sweden since Abba.

A thumping Euro dance smash, Basshunter re-worked ‘Boten Anna’ and recorded it in English, with the end result being released in January 2008 as ‘Now You’re Gone’.

Spending the first half of 2009 headlining the huge UK Dance Nation Arena Tour and writing his second UK album, Basshunter stormed back into the charts with ‘Every Morning’ in September 2009. The album ‘Bass Generation’ (Silver Sales Status) came soon after and Jonas toured the UK once again, taking his sell-out Bass Generation show on the road!

Basshunter’s profile sky rocketed with his legendary appearance on Celebrity Big Brother. Directly after this appearance Basshunter jetted off to LA to work with long time collaborator Alex Herron on the video to ‘Saturday’ – his most recent release.
Lil Jon ft LMFAO ‘Drink’

Following explosive performances with Steve Aoki during Miami Music Week, as well as Ultra Music’s live stream sets from Roseland Ballroom NYC and Cancun in Mexico, Lil Jon shows no signs of slowing down, with the release of his new single ‘Drink’.

Featuring Party Rockers LMFAO, the rapper’s new track again demonstrates his ability to merge dance with hip-hop. Previous crossover hits have included ‘Shots’ and ‘Outta Your Mind’ (ft. LMFAO), both of which were taken from his 2010 album ‘Crunk Rock’, and his life-of-the-party style and sound has already earned him success with his latest single ‘Drink’.

The entertaining video for the single features a cadre of elderly folk partying hard in their nursing home, where there's booty shaking, grinding and sloppy smooching, with thongs coming out of elastic pants, an elderly lady's legs going behind her head, fisticuffs, shirts coming off and intravenous bags being filled with an alcoholic energy drink.

Lil Jon (a.k.a. Jonathan Day) is best known for his role in creating and popularizing the southern American ‘Crunk’ movement, and is one of the most sought after artists and producers in hip-hop. Widely known for his platinum-selling production, Jon has crafted ground-breaking hits for a diverse array of artists such as Usher, Ciara, The Ying Yang Twins, E-40, Ice Cube and more. As an artist, he has sold millions of records as the frontman of Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz, whose smash hits ‘Get Low’ and ‘What U Goin’ Do’ have been among the biggest crossover hip-hop hits in recent times. Lil Jon has won BMI’s Songwriter of the Year award, eight Billboard Awards (for the two hit Usher tracks ‘Yeah!’ and ‘Lovers and Friends’), a Grammy, a Radio Music Award, a BET award, two MTV Video Music Awards and an American Music Award. Proving that his reach is far beyond just music, Lil Jon was cast on NBC’s primetime show Celebrity Apprentice (spring 2011) quickly becoming a fan favourite, and has an endorsement deal with Oakley as well as his own Crunk!!! energy drink.

Previous collaborations have included Steve Aoki on ‘Emergency’ ft Chiddy Bang, reggae legends Stephen and Damian Marley on ‘On De Grind’ and ‘Turbulence’ ft Laidback Luke, and now he’s teaming up with LMFAO for the new single ‘Drink’ – the perfect demonstration of his ability to dominate both the hip-hop and EDM scenes.

White Powder Gold

A band on a mission to filter dub step, electro, indie, R&B and hip-hop through the cosmic gateways of melodic pop”

Art Rocker Magazine

“Council estate indie banger”

Rwd Magazine

Unique and in-demand, White Powder Gold release their second single Rock N Rolla May 14th.

The follow up to acclaimed debut Can’t Stop Me Now, the song continues the genre thrashing of its predecessor while turning on the rock afterburners - a full on punk riot, capturing the white hot live energy of a band moving at light speed through UK urban music.

The London-based band of four – Jermaine, Jamie, Corey and Chris, signed to TwentyOne Records, are tipped to be ones to watch in 2012.

With their injected samples, hooks and live band ethos, they already own the underground scene and are now ready to hit the masses with an EP.

Described variously as "council estate indie,” punk and experimental, WPG dispense with labels to draw on influences from a wide range of musical genres:

"We love a range of sounds,” says frontman Jermaine, “The Stooges, Beastie Boys, Rage Against the Machine, Sizzla, The Stone Roses and house producers/artists like Claude Von Stroke and Daft Punk influence us. But regardless, we always try to come with our own unique vibe, which makes WPG who we are."

The band are a live phenomenon with their mix of urban and indie, a live four piece with added sampling. They have already supported GZA of Wu-Tang Clan and held court at some of London’s most essential nights at Hoxton Pony, XOYO, Dublin Castle and more.

"We make the music we love. Sometimes that means hard bass, sometimes it’s a guitar riff, but it always comes from the soul" – Jermaine and Jamie.

Previous single Can't Stop Me Now drew support from BBC 1 Radio 1, BBC 1Xtra, MTV, SBTV, Artrocker Magazine, Record Of The Day, among many others. Rock N Rolla is the lead track from the EP.

Consisting of four tracks and two remixes, the White Powder Gold EP provides a space for the listener to vent their angst, punch the air and simultaneously move their hips.

Ready to spill out of the clubs and into the charts, Rock N Rolla is the sound of a band nearing boiling point.

Ny

“I think that if you cut me open and looked into my bones you would see that’s where the melodies flow”. So opens north London singer, songwriter, producer and rising pop chameleon Ny’s forthcoming new single ‘Music’. Released through Cooking Vinyl on 7th May, the track is taken from Ny’s forthcoming album Who Is She and follows 1Xtra’s Record of the Week ‘Be With You’, which also picked up plays from Fearne Cotton and Chris Moyles. A strikingly assured single boasting an addictive monster bass hook, ‘Music’ comes complete with mixes from Sunship, Ruffloaderz and Bill Posters. Ny will tour with Plan B at his forthcoming series of live dates across June and July.

Ever since childhood – spent making music with instruments brought by her parents in lieu of a television – Ny had always known she wanted to be a singer. By the time she reached her teens Ny was appearing on pirate radio station Freak FM, singing jingles and helping out where possible. After entering a talent show at the age of 15, Ny began working for a company organising Under 18s raves. There she met Ms Dynamite who asked her to join her on tour; not to perform but to watch and learn.

“It taught me that I could go in a room and not be shy to talk to anybody,” says Ny. “To know that if you believe in what you're doing you've got to make other people believe in what you're doing.” Ny also started to get into grime, connecting with the freedom of expression the genre offered her. “It was just the feeling it gave me and the freedom to say what you want and be what you want and the level of expression people had. It was like doing poetry but over a beat. It's not the aggression, it's the passion that comes out.”

By the age of 17, Ny had moved out from the family home and had put together her first mixtape – sold in person around the West End for a fiver – with support from an impressive roll call of contacts including Plan B, Wiley and Professor Green. A follow up was then released through True Tiger Recordings, which lead to her appearing on Ironik's Top 5 single ‘Stay With Me’. From there she joined best friend Tulisa Contostavlos and the rest of N-Dubz as support on their UK arena tour. “For me, doing arenas was next level. The power and adrenalin you get from standing on that stage, you don't want to get off.” she exclaims. “You don't really get the chance to sit and think about it and I hate sitting down, I've got ants in my pants. I'm always like 'what do I have to do next?'”

From her patient beginnings it feels like it's finally Ny's time. “For me, music's been a huge factor - like another parent, then a boyfriend, then it's been a friend and then it's been a child when it's acting up. It feels like it's trapped you in a little bubble and you don't even want to get away from it.”
