Chris Brown has revealed the release date of his upcoming album.

The singer has been working on the record 'X' for a number of months, but no official word on its final release date had been forthcoming.

It had been scheduled to be released in July last year, but is was delayed.

However, Brown has taken to Twitter to state that it will hit shelves in May. He said:

"X is by far my best album yet....Setting the date for MAY 5."

The US singer meanwhile also accused his former manager of leaking his new material. In a now deleted post, Brown said:

"My old manager is leaking my NEW album music and refuses to give me my back up hard drive to sabotage my album. That's F'd up G!"

He then replaced it with the tweet: "Snakes in the grass…..Just stay positive."
