Chris Brown's new tattoo "is not Rihanna" his rep confirms

R&B sensation Chris Brown has set the record straight about his new tattoo and revealed that it's a nod to Mexico's Day of the Dead.

The new ink, which is on his neck, appeared to be of a battered woman's face and stirred up controversy after people began commenting on its likeness to the photos released of Rihanna following his 2009 assault on her, but a representative for the singer has confirmed that there is no link.

Speaking to TMZ, his rep said: "His tattoo is a sugar skull (associated with the Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead) and a MAC cosmetics design he saw."

"It is not Rihanna or an abused woman as erroneously reported."

Meanwhile, Rihanna also debuted new ink this week and uploaded a photograph of herself showing off a winged-design spanning the width of her ribcage.
