Christina Perri explains how Ed Sheeran duet came about

Christina Perri has revealed that she got Ed Sheeran to appear on her new album after writing a male part to a song that she didn't intend to keep.

The two musicians teamed up on the track 'Be My Forever' on Perri's new record 'Head or Heart'.

Speaking to Ryan Seacrest about how the collaboration came about, the US star said:

"I remember thinking, ‘Well this certainly will not be my song because I’ve never written anything that happy before'. But in fact, I fell in love with it and I wrote a guy part...who also doesn’t sing super happy songs - Mr. Ed Sheeran."

'Head or Heart' meanwhile hit No.5 on the UK albums chart midweek update, which was revealed today (April 2).

Perri's last album 'Lovestrong' managed to peak at No.9 in the UK when it was released back in 2011.
