Coldplay TV special announced to celebrate new album 'Ghost Stories'

Brit-rockers Coldplay are due to unveil their brand new studio album, entitled 'Ghost Stories', on May 19 and to celebrate the highly anticipated release a television special is set to air. 

Filmed by Grammy-nominated director Paul Dugdale, who previously worked with Adele on her 'Live at the Royal Albert Hall' concert DVD, shot the project in an exclusive custom-built amphitheatre in front of an audience of 800 fans. 

An official press release about 'Coldplay: Ghost Stories' explains: "The show blends a unique in-the-round performance from the band with cinematic vignettes and immersive 360-degree projections."

A broadcast date for the UK is yet to be confirmed, but a list of international airing dates have been posted to Coldplay's official website this afternoon (April 23). 

Coldplay, meanwhile, have also now been confirmed to headline BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend and the event will take place at Glasgow Green next month on May 24. Rita Ora, Paolo Nutini, and Pharrell Williams will also play live sets.
