Coldplay have reigned supreme in a list of the UK's top selling records of the year so far.

The band released their latest effort 'Ghost Stories' in May and it became one of the quickest shifting albums of 2014.

The Official Charts Company have now unveiled their list of the year's best sellers and the Coldplay record has come out top.

It has sold 375,000 units to date, beating the 329,000 tally of the second placed 'Caustic Love' by Paolo Nutini.

At No.3 on the list is Ellie Goulding's 'Halcyon' (275,000), with Paloma Faith's 'A Perfect Contradiction' following with sales of 255,000.

Despite only being released in late June, Ed Sheeran's 'x' is the 12th best selling album of the year so far.
