Coldplay set for special BBC Radio 2 concert in December

'A Sky Full Of Stars' hitmakers Coldplay have been announced to play a special BBC Radio 2 concert that will take place on December 8 at the BBC Radio Theatre and 116 pairs of tickets will be given away for this intimate event.

Radio 2 sent out a tweet this afternoon and confirmed the exciting news: "We're excited to announce that @coldplay will be playing an exclusive concert for Radio 2 and you could be there!"

The band also shared an update with their followers online and explained that they will be able to watch the show using the red button on British television: "You'll be able to hear the whole @BBCRadio2 In Concert performance online wherever in the world you are (and watch on the UK Red Button)."

Earlier this month, the group's frontman Chris Martin admitted that the song 'A Sky Full Of Stars' was inspired by Katy Perry: "I'll tell you the truth: I was listening to a lot of Katy Perry. A lot of her songs have the same chord sequence the whole time. Your body feels comfortable with them and then the melody's changing on top so there's a groove you really get in to and then also you're kept interested...So I was like, 'That's an amazing way of doing songs'."
