Coldplay on new album: 'We're trying to make something colourful and uplifting'

British rockers Coldplay have opened up about their upcoming seventh studio album and explained that it will be 'colourful and uplifting', and might even have a concept.

Speaking to Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2 recently, frontman Chris Martin confessed that their new record will be fun and different to what fans might expect:

"You know 'Harry Potter' and things have instalments, and you know we just made an introspective record and didn't really do much around it. Secretly we may have something else in mind, but I accidentally told Zane [Lowe] about it."

"We're trying to make something colourful and uplifting and we're just having quite a good time making it because we've spent so long not making that kind of thing. We know what the name of it is and that's about it, and some of the songs."

Earlier this month, Martin told Zane Lowe that there will be a tour for their new album: "Now we're making things that sound different and it's a very fun time to be in our band. I have to think of it as the final thing that we're doing - otherwise, we wouldn't put everything into it. Then we'll go on tour."
