Coldplay have been announced as one of this year's BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend headliners.

The massive event will take place at Exeter's Powderham Castle on May 28 and 29.

The first performers were confirmed today (February 1), with Coldplay set to headline.

Also on the bill are Ellie Goulding, Craig David, Bring Me The Horizon and Chase and Status.

Fans will be able to apply for free tickets online.

Information on how to get tickets will be revealed on March 21.

Last year's Big Weekend took place in Norwich.

It enjoyed a star-studded bill, with Taylor Swift one of the headlining acts.
