Coldplay are to perform at this year's X Factor final at Wembley Arena, it has been announced.

They will join Michael Bublé as well as former contestants Leona Lewis, JLS and One Direction, according to BBC Newsbeat.

This year's final will take place over two days, with Coldplay playing on December 11. Speaking about the high-profile slot, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin said:

"We're all big X Factor fans so we're very excited to play live on the show."

X Factor judge Gary Barlow added that the 2011 final will be the show's biggest yet. He said:

"This is the biggest final The X Factor has ever done. Being at Wembley Arena for the first time and in front of 10,000 people with Coldplay performing, I can't wait - it's going be an amazing night."
