Coldplay's 'Clocks' voted best song of the past 10 years

Brit rockers Coldplay have enjoyed an incredibly successful career, but the band have now reached another milestone after their single 'Clocks' was voted the best track of the past 10 years by BBC 6 Music listeners.

The poll was created to celebrate the radio station's tenth anniversary and saw the 'Mylo Xyloto' hitmakers come out on top, beating the likes of Arctic Monkeys' 2005 hit 'I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor' (No.2) and Elbow's 'One Day Like This' (No.3).

Speaking about Coldplay's win, presenter and host Steve Lamacq confessed that it wasn't surprising because of the band's popularity: "It's a good result for Coldplay, who were clearly one of the biggest bands of the decade."

The other songs that completed the Top 5 were The National's 'Bloodbuzz Ohio' at 4, and The Killers' 'Mr Brightside' right behind at 5.

The full Top 10 is as follows:

1. Coldplay - 'Clocks'
2. Arctic Monkeys - 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor'
3. Elbow - 'One Day Like This'
4. The National - 'Bloodbuzz Ohio'
5. The Killers - 'Mr Brightside'
6. The White Stripes - 'Seven Nation Army'
7. The Flaming Lips - 'Do You Realize??'
