Dylan releases his first studio EP WINTER SOLITUDE on 10th May 2013

Winter Solitude is the debut EP release from Dylan Barnes and the first for London-based record label Coldstone. Hailing from the North-East and a regular on the London music scene ( Bella Echoes,
Messiah), Barnes opens his and the label’s account here with bittersweet songs, his easy, floating guitar progression and sensitive hooks will have you gliding along till the end. Like a laid-back anthem for the end of summer, the vocals dip in and out of focus, gathering and releasing light. One to kick back to, to curl into, this does what all good music should: it gives you space and permission to feel. Dylan’s songs whistle lightly through details drawn from the life he observed around his seaside town and throughout the concrete jungle that surrounds it, linking it to life he led around the city streets of London. Winter Solitude is available from 10th May. The EP will be available as a download from all digital retailers.

"Inevitable comparisons are sometimes, well, inevitable, but sometimes they’re earned too, and Coldstone Records first signing Dylan Barnes is destined to be compared to the likes of Nick Drake and latterly Damien Rice for his seamless fusion of crisp acoustic guitars and swooping vocals. However, where Drake was more introspective, there’s an easier and more obvious accessibility to Barnes’ debut ‘Winter Solitude’ that leans more towards Rice’s floating like a cannonball days than the contemporary singer/songwriter omnipresence of Pink Moon or Bryter Layter. A promising debut from both a promising artist and promising new label too."
