Dappy avoids jail in petrol station fight case

Dappy has been spared an immediate visit to jail after being involved in a fight outside a petrol station last year.

The rapper, real name Costadinos Contostavlos, was given a six-month jail sentence suspended for 18 months after being found guilty of affray and assault at a garage in Surrey in February 2012.

The 25-year-old is said to have broken down in tears and shouted 'Yes' after the verdict was read out at the Guildford Crown Court.

He has been ordered to undertake 150 hours of community service, pay £4,500 in compensation and contribute £2,000 in costs.

Dappy was found guilty in January of affray and one count of assault relating to the mass brawl. He denied the charges.

He was cleared of two charges of spitting at two women.
