David Bowie producer denies that a new album is in the works

Long-time David Bowie producer Tony Visconti has backtracked on comments that he made in a recent interview regarding the existence of a new album.

CNN had quoted, Visconti – who produced Bowie’s ‘Space Oddity’, ‘Low’, ‘“Heroes”’, ‘Lodger’, ‘Scary Monsters’, ‘Heathen’, ‘Reality’ and ‘The Next Day’ albums – as saying:

“There's gonna be another album, definitely… soon.”

Tony Visconti has now taken to Twitter to clarify the situation stating:

“CNN, I didn’t say new Bowie album ‘soon’… I said every which way I could that BOWIE IS NOT MAKING A NEW ALBUM… IT IS A FALSE QUOTE… The truth is I don’t know of any plans for a new album and I don’t know if I’m the producer.”

In his full statement (see image below) Visconti explains that his allusions to new music refer to two previously unheard Bowie tracks, titled ‘Sue (Or in a Season of Crime)’ and ‘Tis a Pity She’s a Whore’, which will be included on a career-spanning compilation which is due for release in November.

Stateside fans now have the chance to visit the David Bowie exhibition which took the V&A in London by storm last year following its arrival at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago earlier this week.
