David Bowie bags one quarter of spots on UK albums chart top 40

Ten David Bowie albums have entered this week's UK albums chart top 40.

The musician passed away on Sunday (January 10) aged 69 after a secret battle with cancer.

His death came just days after the release of his 25th record 'Blackstar'.

The Official Charts Company confirmed today (January 15) that the album is No.1 after selling nearly 150,000 units.

This makes the record - which was on course for No.1 anyway - the fastest selling album of the year.

A total of ten Bowie albums are in this week's top 40, with compilation 'Nothing Has Changed' at No.5.

A host of other records feature highly, including 'Hunky Dory', 'Aladdin Sane' and 'Low'.

241,000 Bowie albums were sold over the last seven days in the UK, with vinyl copies of 'Blackstar' selling out.

Nineteen of his records feature in the albums chart top 100.

Elsewhere on this week's chart, Elvis Presley's 'If I Can Dream' stays at No.2, with Adele's '25' dropping two places to No.3.

Justin Bieber's 'Purpose' is No.4, with Voice UK winner Stevie McCrorie debuts at No.35 with 'Big World'.
