Angie Bowie upset over how CBB broke the news about David's death

Angie Bowie has branded Celebrity Big Brother bosses “intrusive” for the way they treated her following the news that her ex-husband David Bowie had died.

Angie Bowie, David Bowie's first wife, was a contestant on the Channel 5 reality show, Celebrity Big Brother (CBB), last month (January) when the news of David Bowie's death broke. She was told by the show about his death and then brought into the diary room, but the situation spiralled out of control into an unforgetable drama.

Recalling the moment to Australia’s Studio 10 she said: “Firstly, I didn’t know he was ill, so it was already incredibly difficult.

"Second, that interview in the Diary Room was directly after I was told, and I don’t appreciate being held up as I was and being forced to share my grief with their camera. I found it rude, intrusive, and in extremely poor taste.

I’m not saying that they (the show's producers) didn’t have the contractual right to do that: I signed a paper that said they could do that, but it didn’t say ‘and in case someone dies really close to you, we’re gonna stick a camera in your face and you’re gonna cry on screen and tell us all about it’.”

Bowie left the house due to ill health and Jonathan Cheban left citing the way the show broke the news about David Bowie's death to Angie, his ex-wife, as a contributing factor in his decision to leave the show.

One of the other CBB contestants, Tiffany, mistakenly believed fellow contestant, David Guest, had died when Angie Bowie takes her to one side and whispered: "David's dead."
