David Bowie's son on his father's death: 'He was a big gravitational pull in my life'

The son of David Bowie, Duncan Jones, has opened up about losing his iconic father to cancer at the beginning of this year in a new interview.

Speaking to podcast The Nerdist, Jones admitted that it's very hard to come to terms with the loss, but he is at least comforted by the fact that they were able to say goodbye to one another before Bowie passed away in January:

"I’m OK, I’m good. I was very fortunate, we got a chance to say our goodbyes. It’s a weird one for me, I don’t really know how to talk about it or what to say about it - other than the fact that we got a chance to say our goodbyes.”

"Weird things make me miss him, but it’s still early days. I’m sure I always will, but it’s tricky. He was a big gravitational pull in my life as far as who I saw myself as. How I separated myself from the world and how I saw myself.”

Jones went onto add that it's especially hard at the moment because he is preparing to welcome a child with his wife next month, so that makes it even tougher: "It’s bittersweet because right now my wife is very pregnant and she’s due in June."

As previously reported, David Bowie will be honoured at this summer's Glastonbury Festival and organiser Emily Eavis recently told the BBC about the plans:

“We're doing Philip Glass's Heroes Symphony on the Park Stage on Saturday night, which is going to be a really intimate tribute to Bowie. It's being conducted by Charles Hazlewood with members of the Paraorchestra. And we're going to do an incredible light show which will go on for the whole show and beyond, into the night.”
