David Bowie teams up with Gary Oldman for new video

David Bowie has debuted his latest video.

The veteran singer is releasing the track 'The Next Day' as the new single from the album of the same name.

It follows on from previous efforts 'The Stars (Are Out Tonight)' and 'Where Are We Now?'.

The video for 'The Next Day' meanwhile stars The Dark Knight Rises duo Gary Oldman and Marion Cotillard.

The clip is directed by Floria Sigismondi, who recently lorded over Justin Timberlake's 'Mirrors' video.

It focuses on religious imagery and sees Oldman act as a lusty priest figure chatting up Cotillard who plays a prostitute. In the final scenese, Oldman lambasts an ethereal Bowie, who is performing in a dingy basement venue. There are also nods to violence, money and self-flagellation, as well as stigmata scenes.

As previously reported, Bowie recently issued a 42 word list after being asked to describe his recent creative approach.

An excerpt from his response reads: "Effigies, indulgences, anarchist, violence, chthonic, intimidation, vampyric, pantheon, succubus, hostage, transference."
