Her Majesty The Queen cites unique new Commonwealth Diamond Jubilee Song

Britain’s most exciting new soprano LAURA WRIGHT flies the flag for the Commonwealth with new Diamond Jubilee Song, ‘Stronger As One’

Available worldwide for download, 5pm GMT, 12th March, from DECCA Records

At the Commonwealth Day Observance in Westminster Abbey on 12th March, The Queen’s Commonwealth Day Message made reference to the newly-composed song, 'Stronger As One'. Young soprano Laura Wright, accompanied by Reading Blue Coat School Choir, premiered the new song - 'Stronger As One' – in Westminster Abbey in front of representatives from all over the Commonwealth. It was performed shortly before the start of the Commonwealth Day Observance, attended by The Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, and the Duke of Edinburgh.

As Britain’s most exciting new soprano, Laura was selected to record this new song, which was cited in The Queen’s annual Message to the Commonwealth’s two billion citizens worldwide. Immediately following its premiere in Westminster Abbey, the song was made available to buy as a download, with Decca Records donating a minimum of 50p from every digital single being donated to The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust.

With a performance that is set to showcase Laura Wright’s sensational voice to the world, this citation in The Queen’s Commonwealth Day Message is both an honour and a privilege for the 21- year-old music student who used to wait tables to support her studies.

Composer of 'Stronger As One', Robert Hartshorne, said: “I’m delighted that Her Majesty has mentioned 'Stronger As One' in her Message. With proceeds from the song being donated to The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust, I hope that the Commonwealth and the world like it!”

Laura Wright is currently studying opera at the acclaimed Royal College of Music, and to date has sold over one million albums.  One of the UK’s biggest-selling classical artists in 2011, she was the first female singer since Katherine Jenkins to reach Number One in the Classical Chart with her album, “The Last Rose”.  Her new album – “Glorious” – will be released on 21 May.  A unique collection of great British songs, old and new, it will celebrate and commemorate the Diamond Jubilee.

2012 looks set to become another incredible year for the singing student. Laura, who has just completed a UK tour with acclaimed tenor Alfie Boe, will be the first soprano to perform at the Olympic Stadium on 31 March.

With such sensational singing ability and highly esteemed endorsements, Laura is set to become Britain’s latest classical music star.
