For the second year running Nordoff Robbins, who transforms the lives of thousands of vulnerable children and adults across the UK through music therapy has teamed up with Ticketmaster and launched its search to find the Best Live Act of the past 12 months through an online vote.

Nordoff Robbins is asking voters to celebrate music at its best and vote for a live act that's transformed their life over the past 12 months from a Top 30 shortlist, selected and based on Ticketmaster customer reviews.

The Top 30 has been selected based on gig reviews and ratings by Ticketmaster customers on the Ticketmaster website, all from live performances that have taken place over the last twelve months. Voting starts online on Thursday May 24th and closes at midnight on Monday June 25th. The winner will be announced at the O2 Silver Clef Awards on June 29th, announced at the event by Absolute Radio’s Hometime presenter, Annabel Port.

Chris Edmonds, Managing Director, Ticketmaster UK says:

“We are proud to be working alongside Nordoff Robbins helping them in their search to find the Best Live Act for the annual O2 Silver Clef Awards. The amazing work Nordoff Robbins does changing the lives of children and adults across the UK through music cannot be underestimated. The reviews on the ticketmaster.co.uk website have helped find the top 30 most highly rated acts in the UK over the last 12 months while giving general public the final say on who is the best.”

The Best Live Act vote marks the 37th annual Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards - a fundraising event which celebrates the best in the world of music and raises vital funds for Nordoff Robbins' vital work. The vote is being run in partnership with Ticketmaster and supported by Absolute Radio, O2 and the Evening Standard. All voters will be entered into a free prize draw to win either £500 Ticketmaster Giftcards or four VIP tickets to a gig of choice at The O2 (subject to availability).

Last year, none other than Sir Paul McCartney won the public vote, with the award being announced on stage at the Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards by Absolute Radio Hometime presenter Geoff Lloyd. This year Geoff’s fellow Sony Award winning co-host Annabel Port will hand out the award.

Annabel Port says:

“I’m honored to be presenting the award for the Best Live Act this year. Music has an impact on all of our lives and is such a big part of what Geoff and I do. Nordoff Robbins is a fantastic charity, and by casting your vote and donating you can help directly benefit their amazing work. They help thousands of people through music therapy every day and we’re giving you the chance to get involved and to help make a difference.”

David Munns, Chairman, Nordoff Robbins says:

“The Best Live Act is an exciting award for the annual O2 Silver Clef Awards. This award gives the general public the opportunity to vote for the live act that has transformed their life over the last 12 months - just like Nordoff Robbins transforms lives with music every day. We are delighted to be working with our partners Ticketmaster, O2, Absolute Radio, and the Evening Standard in helping us bring this all together.”

Through music therapy, Nordoff Robbins enhances the lives of thousands of vulnerable children and adults across the UK. It is the national specialist music charity dedicated to delivering music therapy to a huge range of people in schools, hospitals and care homes across the UK. Nordoff Robbins helps people who are limited or isolated by their condition including those suffering from autism, dementia, mental health problems including depression, brain injury including a stroke, learning difficulties and learning disabilities, and in some cases our clients have a life-threatening or terminal illness, such as cancer. All of these people have one uniting factor - music dramatically improves their quality of life.

Since The Who in 1976, Nordoff Robbins has had the support of musicians over all genres of music including Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Slash, Tony Bennet, M People, Tinnie Tempah, Foo Fighters, Dizzee Rascal, Girls Aloud, Katherine Jenkins, Paulo Nutini, and this year already announced: Best British Act, Jessie J; Lifetime Achievement Award, Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber; Classical Award, Laura Wright.

The O2 Silver Clef Awards is hosted by Nordoff Robbins at the London Hilton on Park Lane, on Friday June 29th. The star-studded annual event, known for its who’s who audience of A-list musical heavyweights, recognises outstanding musical talent whilst raising money for Nordoff Robbins, the national specialist music charity which uses music to transform the lives of vulnerable children and adults.

Nordoff Robbins has 60 therapists providing music therapy services to 100 organisations across the UK, amounting to over 50,000 music therapy sessions every year which are delivered in a variety of settings. The annual Nordoff Robbins Silver Clef Awards acts as the main fundraising platform for Nordoff Robbins, which already reaches out to so many. It helps through music therapy to dramatically enhance and in many ways save the lives of people who they work with and their loved ones.

David goes on to say:

“Our work at Nordoff Robbins is life changing. Since the Silver Clef Awards began 37 years ago, they have raised over £8m for Nordoff Robbins, allowing us to use music to transform the lives of many thousands of disadvantaged and vulnerable people.”

“I think the Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Lunch this year will be a fantastic event, allowing us to further our help to so many more - we still have a long way to go to ensure we can deliver our music services to all those who need them.”
