Martin Gore and Vince Clarke reunite

Depeche Mode co-founder Martin Gore has revealed his shock at reuniting with his former bandmate Vince Clarke.

Gore reconnected with Depeche Mode's former synthpopper Clarke in their new project, VCMG, who are releasing their debut album 'Ssss'.

However, Gore told Rolling Stone of his initial shock at receiving the invitation from Clarke to pursue a new musical project. He said:

"It really was a bit of a shock when I found an email from Vince one day, because we're not in the habit of sending emails to each other. I mean, I don't think I've ever received an email from Vince. But I got one, and it just said very simply, "I'm thinking of making a techno album. Are you interested in collaborating? There are no deadlines or pressures. What do you think?" And that was basically the email."

Whilst their project gathers momentum, Depeche Mode isn't being forgotten about. Gore added that the band are hoping to get a new album finished by the end of 2012. He said:

"We finished this project last May or something. Since then I've been working on writing songs for Depeche. And we are about to embark on a whole new project. We're starting in the studio at the end of March, hoping to have an album finished by the end of the year, and then probably getting to the whole touring process in 2013."
