Elton John admits he has never been asked to play Glastonbury

Sir Elton John has revealed that he has never been asked to perform at the Glastonbury Festival.

The 68-year-old singer told BBC 6 Music that he is yet to receive an invitation for the iconic event.

This is despite the veteran performing at massive venues across the world.

The Brit said: "I haven't been asked, no.

"I mean, they may have asked - but no-one's ever told me."

John has previously been mooted for the Sunday afternoon 'legend' slot, and it is something he's keen on.

He added: "I love Glastonbury because it's a great springboard for young acts.

"You can go there and see five or six acts that aren't in the top 10 who should be."
