Eminem Speaks Out Against Music Downloads and Bootlegging

Eminem has hit out against the slump in album sales that has hit the music industry.

Following recent illegal leaks of tracks from his forthcoming Marshall Mathers LP 2, the ‘Rap God’ star’s record label were forced to bring forward an official stream of album.

Eminem has now voiced his own opinion on the state of record sales in a short audio recording.

In a 56-second clip (see video below) the Slim Shady rapper states: “Due to a massive amount of bootlegging and constant downloading, people are no longer buying CDs so that we can get paid for our f**king work.”

He continues: "They are just continuing to get songs for free. See, what they do is they buy computers, strictly pick songs that they like and burn them onto CDs or put them on iPods… putting music retail in a tremendous slump."

However, Eminem’s announcement then evolves into the rapper joking that without money from record sales he is "forced to tour, causing more stress, arguments with my wife, not being able to see my kids, drink more, take more pills, punch more people in the face, hate the world and end up in rehab."

The ‘Berzerk’ hit-maker’s “excuse to vent” ends with the statement: “Not that I wouldn’t have done the same thing if I could get music for free if I was a kid, but now that I rap for a living – buy my God damn CDs!”
