Eminem and Rihanna score their seventh No. 1 singles with 'The Monster'

A duet between ‘Rap God’ Eminem and ‘Pour It Up’ chanteuse Rihanna has produced another formidable single as the pair’s latest collaboration ‘The Monster’ has debuted at the top of the UK singles chart.

The Detroit rapper and Barbadian pop star previously teamed-up for ‘Love The Way You Lie’ which missed out on the top spot by reaching No. 2 in 2010.

‘The Monster’ gives both Eminem and Rihanna their seventh number one singles. ‘The Monster’ also puts Rihanna in the same league as The Beatles and Elvis Presley as she joins them in being the only other artist to have seven number one singles over seven consecutive years.

Last week’s number one, ‘Royals’, by Lorde has now slipped to No. 2.

Other new entries to this week’s top five come from ‘Fatboy Slim’ with ‘Eat Sleep Rave Repeat’ at No. 3 and One Direction – who had been predicted a number one in the mid-week charts – with ‘Story Of My Life’ at No. 4.

Completing this week’s top five is the former No. 1 ‘Counting Stars’ by OneRepublic.

Other new entries to this week’s chart come from Tinie Tempah featuring John Martin with ‘Children of the Sun’ at No. 6, The Wanted’s ‘Show Me Love (America)’ at No. 8, Foxes’ ‘Youth’ at No. 12, ‘Recovery’ by Justin Bieber at No. 28 and ‘Toy Boy’ by trio M.A.D. at No. 37.
