Eminem achieves his seventh consecutive No. 1 UK album with 'The Marshall Mathers LP 2'

Eminem’s ‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2’ has stormed straight to No. 1 in the UK album chart.

‘The Marshall Mathres LP 2’ is Eminem’s eighth studio album and gives him his seventh consecutive No. 1 record in the UK charts. The Detriot ‘Rap God’ star is the only American artist to achieve this feat and is now on par with The Beatles in terms of consecutive chart-topping albums.

The only artists to have jointly bettered these achievements are Led Zeppelin and ABBA who have enjoyed eight consecutive No. 1 LPs.

This week’s entire top five is made up exclusively by new entries with X Factor winner James Arthur just behind Eminem at No. 2 with his self-titled debut album. Tinie Tempah’s second album ‘Demonstration’ follows closely behind at No. 3. Andre Rieu & Johann Strauss Orchestra’s ‘Music Of The Night’ is new in No. 4 and The Overtones’ ‘Saturday Night At The Movies’ completes the line-up at No. 5.

Other new entries to this week’s album chart come from former Westlife singer Shane Filan with his first solo outing ‘You And Me’ at No. 6, ‘The Nation’s Favourite Elvis Songs’ compilation at No. 7 and ‘Word Of Mouth’ gives The Wanted their third top ten album.

Elsewhere in the chart Avril Lavigne is new in at No. 14 with her eponymous fifth studio album whilst her husband Chad Kroeger’s band Nickelback are at No. 15 with their ‘Best Of…’. Another greatest hits is on their tail as ‘The Very Best Of Bob Dylan’ has charted at No. 16. This week’s new entries are completed by Midlake’s ‘Antiphon’ at No. 39.
