Example ties the knot

British rapper Example tied the knot in Australia today (May 18).

The 30-year-old star wed TV presenter Erin McNaught in her home country and revealed his pre-wedding plans ahead of the big day.

Taking to Twitter he wrote: ''It's 7.30am. Just going for a little 6 mile jog. Ceremony starts in 6 hours. Not sure if this is normal protocol for your wedding day... ? (sic)''

Example - real name Elliot John Gleave - also thanked fans for their well wishes yesterday, sharing: "Thanks for all your lovely wedding wishes guys. The big day is tomorrow. By 3pm Aussie time @Erin_McNaught will be Mrs Gleave (sic)."

The pair met in 2011 after Erin interview the star for MTV Australia.

He previously gushed about his new wife: ''It was love at first sight and when Erin agreed to go out with me I decided to get a ring on her finger ASAP. We'd decided where and when we were getting married before I'd even proposed, and a month later I eventually got round to it.''

Example also revealed the couple's wedding plans ahead of the ceremony, adding:''It's going to be a small affair over there [in Australia]. We'll have 50 people or so. My band will be there, but other than that it's mainly family.

''We'll have a massive smash-up when we are back next summer for our UK mates. I don't think I'll even wear a tie at the bash in Oz. It's going to be really relaxed. Nothing fancy.''

'Changed The Way You Kiss Me' hitmaker Example has teased a few details about his upcoming wedding to fiancée, Erin McNaught.

The couple (pictured below) announced their engagement last year in November after meeting back in 2011, and Example explained to the Daily Star newspaper that he's leaving most of the planning to McNaught because she's enjoying the whole process:

"She's sort of planning the wedding pretty much on a daily basis and it gets more and more expensive. Random guests keep popping up. It started off with 50 and now it’s almost 100."

"I can't give you specifics about the wedding. Just that it's in May, and in Australia."

Earlier this week (January 9), the star tweeted a message to his fans to let them know he's enjoying his trip to New Zealand: "Nice lady just delivered a bucket of ice to my room, said "Enjoy, it's fresh!!" and then skipped away. I love New Zealand."

Example reveals koala wee woe

Example has admitted that a koala bear once urinated on him - and he believes it was intentional.

The star, who is engaged to Australian Erin McNaught, revealed to Capital FM that he once had an unfortunate episode with a koala.

The 'Say Nothing' star, however, believes the animal was holding out until it got passed around to him before letting rip. He said:

"I held a koala and it did a wee on me. It gave me a sort of look first. About seven other people were holding it before me and I think it was just holding in its wee until it got to me. You could see it in its eye."

Example isn't the only music star to fall foul of koalas, with One Direction last year worried they might pick up chlamydia as a result of being peed on.

Liam Payne and Harry Styles were both holding a bear which apparently had the STI before it urinated on them - but the singers were both fine after the incident.

The 30-year-old is set to perform with with DJ Wire as well as full live gigs from June 20.

He told the Daily Star newspaper: “Whether it’s my live show or the We Are Rockstars crowds, the hotels are packed and the atmosphere is incredible.

“I’ve started on new material and have some big collaborations in the pipeline.

“DJ Wire is working on new material too. We’ll change our set over the summer, but it’s the best of my back catalogue mashed up with whatever huge tunes are around for summer.

Example has given his blessings to rumoured love couple Taylor Swift and Harry Styles.

The country-pop star and One Direction singer are reportedly dating after being seen holding hands in New York more than once.

It spawned the term 'Haylor' and sent fans into overdrive as they both praised and lamented the apparent new relationship.

Speaking to Capital FM, Example - who announced in November that he is engaged to model and presenter Erin McNaught - said that he recently saw Swift in Australia.

However, whilst he didn't get the chance to bring up Styles in conversation, he wishes them well in the future. The music maestro said:

"I saw Taylor Swift last week in Australia – she was staying in the same hotel as me."

Asked if he mentioned the One Direction star, Example added: "No, because she's got 17 people around her at all times."

He concluded: "Good luck to young people in love everywhere."

British hitmaker Example has expressed his concerns about the BRIT Awards and admitted that he never gets nominated because he's on an independent label, which is unfair.

Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper about the famous ceremony, he explained that his music never gets a look in despite his success as a result of not being attached to a major label:

"The Brit is very much a major label party and I'm on Ministry, which is an independent. Regardless of how many records I've sold or how much success I've had, they wouldn't acknowledge me."

Newly-engaged Example went on to add that he's not that bothered by the snub because some of the acts who win BRITs don't go on to do anything that has any career longevity:

"But I don't really mind because if you look at the Brits over the last four, five years, there's plenty of people who have won awards and then disappeared."

Example front-page news in Wigan after "insulting entire town" on Twitter

Example has apparently angered the "whole town of Wigan" following a message he posted on Twitter.

The music maestro, noted for his jovial sense of humour on the social networking website, originally tweeted: "What Twitter needs is a block button for the whole of Wigan, most of the abuse I get comes from Wigan. Are there any nice people in Wigan?"

The 'Say Nothing' star then deleted the tweet, before adding: "Tweeted earlier about how most abuse I get on twitter is from people in Wigan. Unsurprisingly this has resulted in more abuse...from Wigan."

It then emerged that Example had made front-page news on local newspaper Wigan Evening Post, which claimed that the singer had "insulted the whole town".

As previously reported, Example recently opened up on the abuse he receives on Twitter, revealing: "Someone said to me the other day: 'I'm going to come to your gig in Belfast and set fire to you'. People tell me they're going to beat me up, stab me, spit on me."

Example: 'I keep a metal bar by my door'

'Kickstarts' sensation Example has opened up about the negativity aimed at him from social media users and admitted that he deals with a significant amount of unprovoked abuse daily.

In a new interview with The Guardian newspaper, he explained that his Twitter feed is often overrun with offensive messages from strangers, but he's learned to take it on the chin:

"I get abuse on Twitter all day long. I'm not bothered. Some artists set out to leave a legacy. I'm not trying to change the world. I was meant to be a film director. This was just a hobby – a hobby that's gone right. I'm adaptable. If I put my mind to it, I could smash it."

"I was a TV editor, I did voiceovers for the Paramount Comedy Channel and MTV – I've got a deep voice, and when your voice operates at certain frequencies, it resonates more in people's ears. I also did landscape gardening in Australia for six months, I did removals, I still paint – I painted my flat in a day and a half."

When asked about the kind of Twitter abuse he finds himself subjected to, Example revealed: "Someone said to me the other day: "I'm going to come to your gig in Belfast and set fire to you." People tell me they're going to beat me up, stab me, spit on me. They say, "I hate you, you're a prick, I hate your haircut, your face, you look like a horse, you can't sing, you can't rap, your clothes are shit ..." I've got 1.5 million followers. 20,000 people mention me a day. I'd say 500 of those are abuse."

He even added that he keeps a weapon in his house: "I've got a metal bar. I keep it by the door."

The 'Beez In The Trap' singer stole headlines recently after a strop on the set of American Idol was filmed and leaked online.

It is the latest in a string of reported diva-like incidents at the hands of Minaj and Example, who has met her, has criticised the singer and doubted her longevity. He said:

"I've met Minaj. I'm not a fan. I don't think you can be that much of a diva unless you’ve had loads of massive tunes."

The 'Say Nothing' man continued: "In ten years, people are going to be struggling to remember anything Minaj has done except her verse on Monster."

Example has today debuted the video for his new single, 'Close Enemies.'

The horror movie-themed promo features the London rapper performing the track in a maze of underground corridors alongside various shots of a chainsaw-wielding man and a disturbing clown.

The track, which is released on November 11, is the second cut from his upcoming fourth studio album, 'The Evolution Of Man,' following recent No.2 single, 'Say Nothing.'

Example recently admitted to Digital Spy that he has no idea what the song is about:

"I don't know what it's about because I originally didn't write it for me. I was in a writing session about six months ago and I wrote 'Chasing The Sun' on the Monday - I didn't realise it would be for The Wanted at that time - and 'Close Enemies' on the Tuesday. I didn't know who it was going to be for.

"I was just writing big pop songs for whoever. I liked it so much, I just tweaked the lyrics to make it suit me, but originally I imagined it suiting someone like Rihanna."

The show, which sees a number of women chat about a variety of topics, seems to have tickled the fancy of the 'Say Nothing' star.

Speaking to Capital FM, Example said that he once saw singer Enrique Iglesias go on the show and kiss one of the panel.

The music maestro also admitted that some of them are "quite fit". He said:

"I like a bit of Loose Women. I want to go on there and be a guest. I saw Enrique Iglesias went on there and he snogged one of them. A couple of them are quite fit."

Example was then asked which member of the Loose Women cast he would like to kiss, to which he replied: "I don't know. I think if you went on Loose Women, because they're all like 80, if you kiss one or two of them then my girlfriend wouldn't be annoyed because it's playful flirting that helps towards your career in the whole old range. Whereas if you went on TV and snogged a hot 20-year-old you'd get in trouble."

Example wants to change musical direction: 'Pop acts are copying my style too much'

'Kickstarts' hitmaker Example has admitted that he wants to veer away from his usual sound because his "formula" is cropping up in the music of other pop bands too often.

Speaking to Digital Spy, he explained that he keeps hearing his signature style in the chart-topping hits of boybands and girl groups, and it annoys him because it has really seeped into the mainstream:

"My second album was experimental - there were so many different sounds on there - but my last album brought the underground dance genres to the mainstream."

"Since then, every boyband or girlband copies the recipe for 'Changed The Way You KIss Me' or 'Stay Awake', which is why I want to go the other way now and make a rock album, but do it my way."

He also revealed that his love for rock music began at school although, to fit in, he began rapping: "Musically, I always wanted to be the lead singer of a band when I was a kid. I always loved rock music, but when I was at school, the only reason I started rapping is because I wanted to fit in."

"I can do what I want more now, because I'm established, so musically there are a lot more guitars on this album."

His new record, entitled 'The Evolution of Man', is due to be released on November 18.
