The Scheme

Nominated For Best Songwriter At The UMAs

As they release their new single

‘Somebody Else’s Perfect’

And team up with the man who bought Gangnam Style to the world

It’s a double celebration as Pop rock trio The Scheme announce their nomination for Best Songwriter at The UMAs as they prepare to release their new single 'Somebody Else’s Perfect'.

The track is the latest offering from the group’s Jerome Heights EP, which is released on October 28 and is another ultra-slick, irresistibly catchy delight.

Laura Whitmore (MTV) and Chris Stark (BBC Radio 1The Scott Mills Show) will be hosting the Unsigned Music Awards, presented by Liquiproof.  The broadcast will be shown at 9:30pm on Monday, 31st October 2016 on SKY, Freeview and Freesat.

The fresh-faced and London-based group is made up of Kyle Carpenter (Piano, Vocals), Kris James (Vocals) and Aleksey Lopez (Guitar and Vocals) and they are clearly going places.

The Scheme have just announced a UK tour with Union J for early 2017 and are rapidly building an impressive profile. Their videos on You Tube have been seen hundreds of thousands of times and they recently performed for millions of viewers with an appearance on Fox News, as well as amassing a collection of celebrity fans.

They already have a following in the US, from where Kyle hails and where they recorded the tracks for the 'Jerome Heights' EP (in Jerome, Arizona). But with this new track they look likely to conquer new territory by recording a version of the song with South Korean artist LISA. The collaboration came about after they caught the ear of Kyu Lee who has been instrumental in bringing numerous Korean acts to the wider world – it was he who teamed Gangnam Style superstar Psy with Justin Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun, to create a global phenomenon. Korea artist, LISA’s version of the song will also feature as a bonus track on the new EP.

The band recently hooked up for a partnership with the Smiley brand – the people behind the much-loved smiley face logo, which has been such a familiar image for more than 40 years.  In doing so they follow in the footsteps of Miley Cyrus, Pharrell Williams and Katy Perry.

In 'Somebody Else’s Perfect', the group have captured a beautiful sentiment and delivered an important message of empowerment – embrace your individuality and realise your own self-worth. “You are already perfect so there is no need to change yourself or wish you were different to fit in with somebody else’s view,” says Kris of the philosophy behind the song.

The street artist Endless, whose graffiti work has made him a rising star around the world, created the artwork for the new EP. He has collaborated with art duo Gilbert & George and recently gave the exterior of celebrated fashion store Liberty a makeover to mark the 40th anniversary of punk.

Somebody Else’s Perfect and the Jerome Heights EP are both released on October 28 through Believe.
