Breakthrough star Blayre Mic unleashes her powerful new single"I'm here to break the box that pop music came in" Hot talent Blayre Mic proves she is a superstar in waiting with the latest release in her soon-to-skyrocket career, I’m Invincible, on May 5. The Californian chanteuse has created a dynamic message of self-belief and empowerment which would be perfectly fitting as the anthem for next month’s International Women’s Day with its awesome can-do approach. Singer, rapper and songwriter supreme Blayre, who landed in the UK this week for a handful of select gigs plus a close-up view of London Fashion Week, releases the single on the back of her debut EP The Pledge. With a sound that draws on the likes of Outkast and Prince, she creates music which is as distinctive as her image of peacock blue hair, pierced septum and long glittery talons. She calls it: “A future pop that sees a mix of soulful riffs and quirky weird bump-in-your-trunk type sounds.” Blayre grew up in the San Francisco Bay area and was raised on the music of stars such as Tina Turner, Patti Labelle and Donnie Hathaway, but commercial pop was banned in her house and her parents were more likely to play classical repertoire. Indeed her early musical experiments as a child were as an accomplished flautist. A spell in London saw her teaming up with writer-producer Alex Elliot who has previously worked with Ella Eyre, spawning her EP and its lead track Love BPM. Invincible is released on May 5 by 18th Of Nine Entertainment. For more on Blayre Mic: February 21, 2017 8:08am ET by Fifth Element PR |
