Chilean-born Amber Donoso releases hotly anticipated single 'Get Off'

PRESS RELEASE: SEPTEMBER

AMBER DONOSO

Chilean-born rising star releases hotly anticipated debut single ‘Get Off’ on November 3, 2017

At the intersection of fashion, urban vibes and Latina cool, that’s where you’ll find Amber Donoso. Imagine if Bella Hadid could sing like Rihanna only with Shakira’s hip movements. That’s pretty much Amber… only with prodigious writing talent.

The fashion credentials are solid, what with Chilean-born, London-raised Amber’s history as a model, fiercely ruling London Fashion Week while she juggled A-levels before establishing herself in Paris for the couture shows. It’s the urban vibes and the Latin cool that she’s here to prove now.

And with a tune as compelling – and deceptively sophisticated – as ‘Get Off’, it should turn out as effortless a task as stalking the runway in unaffordable clothing.

Having collaborated with writers famous for their work with the likes of Justin Timberlake, Stormzy, Giggs, Amy Winehouse and Rihanna, the track is, to the naked ear, a slice of high-quality dance music. That much is emphasized by the video, shot in gritty Margate by Amber (she’s very ‘hands on’, this one) with influential dance talent Michele Du Verney, which might explain the incredible choreography, something that comes naturally to Amber who grew up in a Latin family where dance was just another part of the language. The videographer for ‘Get Off’, Chas Appeti has worked with the likes of Krept and Konan and Wiz Khalifa, so you already know its going to be a masterpiece.

Listen closer to ‘Get Off’ and you’ll find that it’s an incredibly moving ‘journey’ song that takes us from being crazy in love to the breakdown of a relationship and the difficulty of getting over it. It’s a song with the sort of emotional intelligence and subtlety you expect from someone like Adele rather than a dance track, but then that’s one of the things that helps Amber stand out. ‘I wrote the song about an ex-boyfriend and how I felt I was still in love and unable to move on,’ says Amber. Sound familiar?

Now that she’s spending the money she earned from modeling on keeping control over her own career, she reveals that music was always the priority, her first love, if you like – well, she did start singing and playing guitar at the age of 10 and writing her songs from 13. As for fashion, it was fun but basically a means to an end.
And what an end with tracks such as ‘Dirty Dancing’ and ‘Drunk On Jealousy’ coming up behind ‘Get Off’. And if the modelling and the fashion means perhaps the best-looking and best-dressed music video of the year, then so be it.
