Gary Barlow confirms his departure from 'The X Factor'

Gary Barlow has put an end to speculation about his seat on the judging panel of 'The X Factor' by confirming that the current series will be his last.

Earlier this week BBC Radio 2 presenter Chris Evans let slip on air that Barlow was planning to leave the televised talent search.

Evans stated: “Apparently Gary Barlow is feeling the pressure ahead of the Live Shows... By the way, this will be Gary's last year on 'The X Factor'... because he told me last week.”

The Take That star has now verified Evans’ claim.

During last night’s (October 12) installment of 'The X Factor' Barlow told his group, Rough Copy:

“I've been here for three years and I'm so glad that for my last year on the show I get to mentor you guys.”

He later elaborated on the matter via his PR firm’s Twitter account.

In a series of Tweets through publicity consultants Dawbell, Barlow said:

“Next year is looking to be a busy year for me & XF is a full time job so it felt like the right time to hand over the baton… I've loved being a part of the show and have met and worked with some fantastic people… But most importantly, more than ever, I want to go out with the winning act this year. Come on the groups!”

UK viewers can watch the latest episode of 'The X Factor' tonight (October 13) on ITV at 8pm.
