George Michael on course for UK No.1 album

George Michael looks set to bag a UK No.1 album this weekend.

The singer unleashed his latest effort 'Symphonica' on Monday (March 17), which is his first record in nearly ten years.

The Official Charts Company have confirmed in their midweek update today (March 19) that it is sitting pretty at the top of the UK charts.

The record is 8,500 copies ahead of its nearest rival, Kylie Minogue's fellow new entry 'Kiss Me Once'.

At No.3 on the midweek update meanwhile is Pharrell's 'G I R L', whilst Elbow's 'The Take Off and Landing of Everything' drops three places to No.4.

Completing the top five this week is Paloma Faith's 'A Perfect Contradiction'.

The Pretty Reckless are in at No.6 with their new entry 'Going To Hell' whilst Lea Michele is No.8 with her debut effort 'Louder'.
