George Michael reveals his accent changed during pneumonia battle

George Michael has revealed that his accent changed for a couple of days during his battle with pneumonia.

Michael was struck down in late 2011 with the condition, with the singer at times close to death.

Speaking to radio station LBC, Michael said that when he was able to start speaking again in hospital, his accent had changed to a Bristol accent - despite the singer coming from London. He said:

"My doctors were genuinely worried that I had this condition, it's a genuine thing where people wake from comas speaking French or some other language they learned at school."

He continued: "Mine was two days of this vaguely Bristolian accent, and they were worried I could have spoken like that for the rest of my life. They were saying, 'Oh my God, he's got brain damage'. Not that there's anything wrong with the West Country accent - but it's a bit weird when you come from North London."
