George Michael happy to keep scar after health scare

George Michael has revealed that he is happy to bear a scar from his recent health battle as it makes him grateful that he came out the scare alive.

Michael suffered a near fatal bout of pneumonia late last year after contracting the lung infection in Vienna.

The singer had to shelve a number of tour dates as a result, but he managed to come through the health scare and has now relaunched his solo career.

He told Gaydar that he has a tracheotomy scar from his hospital visit - but he isn't looking to get rid of it any time soon. He said:

"I have a tracheotomy scar...and it really bothered me for a while. I was thinking well maybe I should get something done about it. I know you can have scar treatment."

He continued: "But then I thought when I was looking in the mirror a couple of weeks ago that it does actually remind me every time I look at it that I'm lucky to be alive so I've decided to keep it."
