Polish beauty stokes immigration controversy with release of love song aimed at Great Britain

“With a stunning voice and a compelling cause, it’s no wonder our site experienced unprecedented hits within the first few hours of this news story going live.”  Mel Appleton, Music Promotions

With the voice of an angel, the stunning British based Polish singer/songwriter, POLA, releases her new single, ‘Why Is This Happening?’ to the UK on 4 May as part of the WITH Love 2015 UK campaign. Originally written as a Eurovision 2015 entry, the track is a love song to the people of the UK – a heart-wrenching tale of a one-sided love affair between immigrant residents living in the UK and the cold-hearted Britain who isn’t returning the love.

The ‘WITH Love 2015 UK’ campaign was conceived by Czech filmmaker, Lucie Wenigerova (Strawberry Fields, Mist) who decided to write ‘Why Is This Happening’ as a love song to the UK – the country where she’s lived for over 20 years. Produced and composed by songwriter Alan D. Boyd (BBC Day of The Triffids), the track boasts two legendary session musicians: Ray Russell on guitar (David Bowie, Tina Turner) and Mo Foster on bass (Jeff Beck, Phil Collins), with the beautiful Polish singer, Pola, on vocals.

The ‘WITH’ of ‘WITH Love 2015 UK’ stands for ‘Why Is This Happening’ and is a bewildered cry of rebuff from hard-working immigrants who have lived and raised their families in the UK for over 20 years.  The song, which will be released during election week on 4 May, is at the heart of a campaign that aims to send a clear message out to the UK in response to anti UKIP rhetoric: please don’t use immigrants as scapegoats for Britain’s problems and please don’t believe the divisive rhetoric of politicians.  Britain is our home and we love it.

POLA is a London-based Polish singer/songwriter discovered by the legendary top selling UK producer Robin Millar, the man behind the success of SADE, Patricia Kaas, Ive Mendes and Everything But the Girl.  Her debut album, ‘Wbrew’, was produced by Robin and Ned Bigham, whose production credits include Leona Lewis and Amy Winehouse. It's English version ‘My Favourite Town’ is available worldwide on Itunes, Amazon and most digital stores. Her single 'Strangers in the Street' peaked at No2 in Greece and has remained in the Top 20 Airplay Chart of Radio Corfu for 20 weeks. In May 2009, Pola performed at Sony Music’s Smooth Festival headlined by Macy Gray.

Now Pola joins the ‘WITH LOVE 2015 UK’ team as they aim to push their love anthem high into the charts during the run up to the election.
