Cory Monteith reveals drug-fuelled past

Cory Monteith, who plays Finn in the hit U.S musical series 'Glee', has revealed a past struggle with drugs.

The 29-year-old Canadian actor and singer told Parade magazine that he was addicted to "anything and everything as much as possible" when he was younger and even "stole a significant amount of money from a family member" to fuel his problem.

"I burnt a lot of bridges. I was out of control. I had a serious problem", Monteith explained, and also added that he tried getting help, "that's when I first went to rehab. I did the stint but then went back to doing exactly what I left off doing."

He admitted that stealing money was a "cry for help":

"I knew I was going to get caught, but I was so desperate I didn't care. It was a cry for help. I was confronted and I said, 'Yeah, it was me.' It was the first honorable, truthful thing that had come out of my mouth in years."

The full interview will be printed in tomorrow's (June 25) edition of Parade and you can watch him perform as part of the Glee cast here:
