Whoopi Goldberg confirmed as latest Glee guest star

Whoopi Goldberg has today been announced as the latest guest star to join the cast of Glee.

The show’s producers confirmed to TV Line that the Oscar-winning actress, best-known for her roles in Ghost, The Color Purple and Sister Act, will follow in the footsteps of Gywneth Paltrow, Ricky Martin and Neil Patrick Harris by appearing in the hit Fox show for a possible three-episodes.

The 56-year-old, currently a co-host of US talk show The View, will play Carmen Tibideaux, a theatrical professor at the New York Academy of the Dramatic Arts who travels to Ohio to oversee the auditions of Rachel (Lea Michele) and Kurt (Chris Colfer), and perhaps deliver the vital verdict.

Goldberg, who has also made guest appearances in the likes of The Cleaner, Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Everybody Hates Chris during her lengthy career, will make her debut in the series on the episode airing May 1 in the US.
