Glee Cast score record-breaking 200th hit on Billboard Hot 100

The cast of Glee have today notched up their 200th hit on the Billboard Hot 100.

The likes of Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Cory Monteith achieved the feat after their cover version of Gotye’s current chart-topper, ‘Somebody That I Used To Know,’ and their mash-up of Duran Duran’s 'Hungry Like The Wolf' and 'Rio' entered at No.26 and No.98 respectively in this week’s official chart.

The cast have reached the milestone in less than three years, having first appeared on the Hot 100 with their rendition of Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ (No.4) in June 2009, and are expected to add to their tally with the songs from last night’s disco-themed episode, next week’s Whitney Houston tribute and the upcoming graduation finale.

Their impressive record far surpasses the number of hit singles clocked up by their nearest competitors, Elvis Presley (108), Lil Wayne (101) and James Brown (91), although only 33 of their tracks have spent more than a week on the chart, whilst only a handful have been original compositions.
