by:Larm presents: John Cale at Red Bull Music Academy!

For the third year in a row, Red Bull Music Academy (RBMA) will present a packed programme at by:Larm. Taking over Kulturhuset (House of Culture) in the centre of Oslo, this year’s Red Bull Music Academy venue will become a part of the epicentre of by:Larm. Over three consecutive days, RBMA will be stuffing the entire Kulturhuset chock-full of essential talks and music by Nordic and international artists.

This year, by:Larm is especially proud to present a conversation with John Cale, a true musical giant. As a founding member of The Velvet Underground together with the late Lou Reed, much of Cale’s career is the stuff of legends. The camaraderie between Cale and Reed was a cornerstone of The Velvet Underground, and together they shaped rock history in a way that few others have managed. Later, Cale became a writer and producer in his own right, making solo albums and producing records for other artists. Cale’s place in popular music is undisputed, and we very much look forward to his visit to by:Larm.

Another highlight of the programme is an exclusive RBMA lecture by James Murphy, the man behind LCD Soundsystem and DFA Records! Murphy will be visiting Kulturhuset on Thursday the 27th of February and will also perform a DJ set the same night.

These are the 14 acts playing at Kulturhuset during the festival:

ANDRÉ BRATTEN (NO)  /  CEO (DJ-SET) (SE)  /  COPIA DOBLE SYSTEMA (DK)  /  DRIPPIN (NO)  /  ELOQ (DK)   /  GENIUS OF TIME (SE)  /  INTERTWINE (NO)   /  JAMES MURPHY (DJ-SET)   /  MAN TEAR (SE)   / SHINE 2009 (FI)   /  TARAGANA PYJARAMA (DK)   / TRIPPY TURTLE (NO)   /  WHEN SAINTS GO MACHINE (DK)   /  YOUNG DREAMS (NO)
